Community:
We believe that:
- the Kodiak Island Community must be informed of existing and developing technological opportunities.
- our community will require demonstrations of the potential applications of existing technologies, and must have the resources available to electronically publish local cultural information.
- our community must share local resources to link Kodiak to the global community.
|
|
Equity:
We believe that:
- all members of Kodiak Island communities must have access to information technologies in order to maintain equity with the world.
- training is vital to the use of technology and should be available to all members of our community.
- all members of our island community should have unrestricted access to global information networks, i.e. Internet.
- all people of our Kodiak Island community should have unrestricted access to appropriate technology.
|
|
Ethics:
We believe that:
- respect, tolerance and honesty are as critical in the use of technology as skills needed to use technology.
- the community can and must develop and implement standards for ethical use of technology.
- each technology user is personally accountable for his/her own ethical behavior.
- all technology users need to take a leadership role in upholding ethical standards.
|
|
Learning:
We believe that:
- learning is a continuous process for students, teachers, and community, and that technology enhances learning by empowering and motivating learners. Technology should be integrated into all areas of the curriculum.
- to maximize learning, students must acquire specific technology skills. Educators and community members must be provided opportunities for ongoing, relevant training in current technologies.
