Earth Science
9th grade; Offered as a year-long course
Prerequisites: none
This course focuses on looking at Earth Science as the interaction of systems. Systems studied include: (1) space; (2) earth's crust; (3) fresh water; and (4) natural resources and energy. The emphasis is on lab work and scientific processes in order that students may understand how these systems work independently and interdependently in order to make informed decisions about real-world problems in earth science today and in the future. Students will learn how to keep a field journal, use specific computer programs to gather information and enhance system thinking, and defend scientific investigations in written and speaking formats.

Biology 10-12 grade; Offered as a year-long course
Prerequisites: Earth Science, Co-Requisites: Chemistry/Environmental Studies with approval.
This course covers the traditional life science areas of biochemistry, genetics, cell structure and function, classification, the history of life, and animal anatomy and physiology. Laboratory experiences are an integral part of this course.
