Welcome to the Kodiak High School Music Department

The Kodiak High School Music Department just returned from the ASAA State Solo & Ensemble Music contest, held the weekend of May 4th-5th at the University of Alaska – Anchorage.

KHS sent 16 students to compete against a total of 467 musicians from 45 other Alaskan High Schools.

Jackson Bolger received 2^nd Place in the Percussion category out of 21 Percussion Solo entries.  Melania DeLucia received 2^nd Place in the Vocal Soloist Category out of 78 total Vocal Soloists.  

Finally, congratulations to Antonia & Melania DeLucia who were named the #1 Vocal Ensemble in the State.  This was out of a total 34 Vocal Ensemble entries.  Antonia & Melania were honored to perform in the Command Performance Concert, held at East Anchorage.  This concert features the top performance in each of the 20 Solo & Ensemble categories.

This was the first time in Kodiak history that 3 Kodiak Music Students were named as “Command Performances”, which is the highest honor at this event.
