Cross Country
2006 & 2007 Boys' State Champions!

It's a REPEAT!!!
Kodiak Boys Win Their Second Straight State Cross Country Title

Trevor Dunbar ran brilliantly as he took 8 seconds off the course record shared by West's Miguel Gomez & Lathrop's David Dyer. In doing so he lead his team to the first back to back state titles in the history of Kodiak High School. As awesome as Trevor's front running was, it took a total team effort to put the Bears on top by 64 points over Region III rival Colony who captured the runner-up spot for the second straight year as well. Here is the break down of the 2007 state champs:

1st Trevor Dunbar, Junior, 15:36 Course Record, Season best & Alaska course PR, First Bear boy to repeat state XC titles; 4th Sam Salus, Junior, 16:36, season best & Alaska Course PR, 1 second away from 3rd place;12th Dylan Anthony, Sophomore, 17:10 PR, Dylan has PR'd in every race he ran this year and has become the top sophomore in the state in the process!14th Benny Garcia, Senior, 17:17, Season Best & Alaska Course PR, Achieved goal of top 15; 25th Colton Cubbedge, Senior, 17:40, closed last week's #4 man- #5 man gap from 58 seconds to 23 seconds which was key for the team, within 1 of Alaska course PR; 27th Caleb Heinrichs, Senior, 17:42, season best & Alaska course PR, as our 6th man Caleb was better than all other teams' #4 man and only Colony, Palmer & Servce had their #3 man in before our Great #6 Caleb;59th Justin Blott, Junior, 18:21, PR, Justin was the best #7 man of all teams, Only Juneau & West had #6 men ahead of our #7; With our Top three returning next year, plus Justin Blott, add Patrick Schneider, Chaven Davidson and our many other fine JV runners improving rapidly we can predict many more good days ahead for the Bears.

Last year's dominating performance win was 35-92, 57 points better than Colony, who could have predicted this year that margin would grow to 64 points. Also our team time was 1:24:20 our best for the year, that's a 16:52 average for our top 5 runners, 37 seconds faster than runner-up Colony's average of 17:29. For complete results, see the Coach's page. Read complete coverage of the meet at Anchorage Daily News and check out the photos taken by Marc Lester
