About Me: This is my 24th year of teaching Special Education, 16 of which have been with the Kodiak Island Borough School District . I was raised in a Navy family and have lived on some of the prettiest beaches in the United States . I attended 13 different schools before graduating from high school in Virginia . I always knew I would be a Special Education teacher having begun as a peer tutor in a Special Education classroom when I was a student in junior high. Over the years, I have taught elementary, middle school, and high school students, as well as, adults in residential settings. High School is my favorite though!

I currently teach in the Life Skills program here at Kodiak High School . Our program focuses on teaching students functional academic, daily living, community, and vocational skills. We have two major goals in our program. One is to teach students the skills they need to be as independent as possible once they graduate from high school and move onto adult life. The other, to make each year more enjoyable and fun for our students than the last one!
