Bob Fish

"Mathematics is powerful, but it is even more beautiful than it is powerful."

Bob Fish attended Sitka High School in Sitka, Alaska. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Davidson College in Davidson, North Carolina and his Master of Mathematics Education from the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington. Along with spending time with his four children, Caleb, Hannah, Bethany, and Josiah, Mr. Fish enjoys reading and playing strategy games. Pre-Calculus
Grade Level(s):10-12 Offered as a year-long course
Prerequisites: Algebra II
The basic trigonometric functions are introduced and developed through their graphs and algebraic properties. Trigonometric solutions of triangles, manipulation of identities and the solutions of trigonometric equations are stressed. Functions, graphs, slopes continuity, limits and differentiation are covered.

AP Statistics/Probability
Grade Level(s): 11-12; Offered as a year-long course

Prerequisite(s): C or better in Core Plus Math III or successful completion of Geometry and Algebra II; Teacher recommendation required. This class is worth one additional GPA point.

In this course, students will be immersed in real world problems that can only be solved with statistical methods. Students will learn to explore, summarize, and display data; design surveys and experiments; use probability to understand random behavior; make inferences about populations by looking at samples from those populations; and make inferences about the effect of treatments from designed experiments. The College Board Advanced Placement exam will be offered to those successfully completing the course. Appropriate scores on the exam are worth college credit at many institutions. AP grades are weighted.

Core Plus Math I
Grade Level(s): 9-12; Year-long course

Prerequisite(s): Pre Core-Plus mathematics or recommendation of previous math instructor.

This course includes Algebra, Geometry, Probability and Statistics and Discrete mathematics.
